Robin Koch is available for selection for Leeds United this weekend when they take on Arsenal in the Premier League.
Leeds have been without Koch since the opening day defeat to Manchester United, when the Germany international featured in holding midfield ahead of Kalvin Phillips.
Since then, though, he’s been absent through a pelvic injury that required surgery and then illness.
As per Phil Hay, Marcelo Bielsa has revealed that Koch is back available for Leeds this weekend against Arsenal.
The 25-year-old has made only one appearance so far this season for Leeds, but his return couldn’t come at a better time.
Leeds are without six senior players including Liam Cooper and Pascal Struijk through injury, whilst Junior Firpo is suspended, leaving the back-four threadbare.
Additionally, Phillips, who Koch deputised for over pre-season, is also absent and not looking like he will return until February.
This is good news, firstly for Koch, who has had a tough 12 months with injuries since he broke down during Leeds’ defeat at Chelsea in 2020.
He will be desperate to show Leeds what he can offer, either in the heart of defence or in central midfield.
For Leeds, it’s timely, too.
Bielsa has a really bad injury situation developing at the moment and Leeds are missing big players all over the pitch.
It’s absolutely vital that they recover some troops in the coming weeks.
Koch is the first, fingers crossed that others can follow.
