The Met Office states Leeds will have a hot and sunny day today (Thursday) before thunder is forecast in the city the next day.
While a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is forecast for parts of the country, Yorkshire has not been affected. But this does not mean thunderstorms aren’t forecast.
From 10am on Friday, there will be light rain. However, this will change to thunderstorms from 3pm until around 6pm.
This is what the weather forecast is like in Yorkshire according to the forecaster:
Fine, dry and largely sunny morning, before cloud bubbles up into the afternoon. The odd heavy shower likely through the afternoon, perhaps turning thundery later. Feeling hot for many, with light winds and temperatures rising above those seen on Wednesday. Maximum temperature 29 ?C.
Isolated thundery showers, with heavy downpours and hail possible during the evening, but gradually fading as they clear north and east overnight. Clear spells developing, perhaps prolonged after midnight. Minimum temperature 12 ?C.
Sunny spells at first, however cloud soon thickening. Scattered heavy showers developing with a risk of hail and thunder. Very warm still, but less hot than on Thursday. Maximum temperature 27 ?C.
