Andrea Radrizzani delivers specific Leeds United expectation

Andrea Radrizzani has suggested that he feels Leeds United are prepared enough to finish between 10th and 14th in the Premier League this season.

Leeds start their season this weekend against Wolves at Elland Road, with a 3pm kick-off on Saturday afternoon.

Jesse Marsch will be hopeful to guiding Leeds clear of trouble, having saved them on the final day of the previous season at Brentford.

In an interview with The Athletic, Radrizzani has set out Leeds’ aims for the season to be comfortable in mid-table.

“The target I set is between 10th to 14th position. If we’re lucky, we are close to 10th or more. If we aren’t lucky, we are 15th. But I think we are in that range. I don’t want to have any more heart-attack risk.

“I don’t have any doubt that we’ll avoid a situation similar to last season. It’s impossible.”

Leeds face Wolves on Saturday, with that game swiftly followed by a trip to Southampton the following weekend.

Marsch’s side also face Brighton (away) and Everton (home) in the opening month, as well as welcoming Chelsea to Elland Road.

March 2022, Molineux?

If Leeds can deliver what Radrizzani wants, it’s a successful season and much-needed after the last 12 months.

He’s right in that Leeds can push up higher, whilst he’s realistic in noting that it could be worse.

One thing that Leeds are going to need to achieve a mid-table finish is a fast start.

That feels really achievable given the opening month of the season, where there are four fixtures where Leeds can try and win, alongside a clash with Chelsea.

Marsch getting a fast start will bring Radrizzani’s ambitions into play.
