Jamie Carragher has been thrilled by Joe Gelhardt’s composure in front of goal for Leeds United against Norwich City.
The youngster came off the bench in the second half and the game appeared like it was heading for a stalemate after the visitors’ late equaliser.
However, Gelhardt decided to send Elland Road into raptures when he scored the winner to make it 2-1 with what was the last kick of the game.
Speaking on Sky Sports MNF, Carragher said, “That was brilliant from Joffy. The composure he shows there, he’s a special, special lad. He’s someone we’ll be talking about a lot in the future.”
Gelhardt has already become something of a cult hero at Elland Road this season.
His performances off the bench have helped turn around fortunes in many games and he did exactly that against Norwich.
Carragher has a special affinity for Gelhardt because he grew up being a Liverpool fan.
However, despite that, he still admires what a special talent the youngster really is.
Leeds fans knew all about him but it’s good to see him getting recognition from neutrals as well.
Being featured on Monday Night Football certainly would’ve been one of his dreams growing up and it’s now become a reality for him.
Hopefully, Jesse Marsch starts giving him more chances in the playing eleven as he certainly has merited them.
