Jeff Stelling predicts Leeds United will finally get their Premier League season up and running by beating Watford on Saturday.
Marcelo Bielsa has failed to see his side win any of their opening six league fixtures this season.
However, in his predictions on the Super 6 website, Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday host Stelling has backed the Whites to win 2-0 versus Watford at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Sky Sports pundit Neil Mellor has also predicted the Yorkshire giants to win against Watford.
However, the ex-Liverpool striker doesn’t see Bielsa’s men keeping a clean sheet and expects a tighter game, with the Whites winning 2-1.
We’ve got to win this one, surely?
While Watford have had a decent start to life back in the Premier League, Leeds are yet to get their second year in the top-flight up and running.
It’s too early for suggestions of second-season syndrome or anything like that but Bielsa needs to find a way to get three points this weekend otherwise the pressure will start to build a bit.
We’re not worried about relegation but we are worried that we may not make any progress on what was achieved last season.
It’ll be tough to match or improve upon the ninth-placed finish last term but we’d at least be hoping to get into the mid-table spots or the top-half. We don’t want to be in a relegation battle after how much money was spent and how good we looked in 2020/21.
Leeds should not really be going into the second international break of the season while still waiting for their first Premier League win.
Something’s got to give and hopefully it’ll happen when Watford are in town on Saturday.
In other Leeds United news, grim reading for Leeds fans as Bielsa’s future may become a major talking point soon.
