Journalist: Leeds United submit EUR30million offer for UCL midfielder

Leeds United have reportedly made an approach to Porto to sign attacking midfielder Otavio.

The Whites are in the mood for more signings under Jesse Narsch after an initial three so far this summer.

Players could be on the way out, but it’s not getting in the way of ambitious moves from Victor Orta.

While Brenden Aaronson presents a smart addition to the attack, more options are needed – and even more so if Raphinha leaves.

Orta’s shortlist is seeing names emerge from across Europe, and the latest is Porto’s Otavio.

Journalist Pedro Sepulveda is reporting that Leeds have seen an offer rejected from the Portuguese club for their 27-year-old, believed to be around EUR30million.

Porto are only willing to sell Otavio for the release clause valuation in his current contract, which isn’t revealed here, but is confirmed as not as high as EUR60million.

It has been reported elsewhere that he currently holds a EUR40million clause in his deal.

I can’t see us putting that much money down for another attacking player before we’ve sold Raphinha.

Not only that, but he’s been wearing the captain’s armband frequently for a side in the Champions League.

I can see us being able to pay that sort of money once players leave, but to commit to it now seems a stretch.

It’s exciting to just see the calibre of players that is emerging as potential targets here.
