Leeds face blow as player mooted to be ruled out for months with suspected MCL injury – report

Leeds United defender Junior Firpo is set to be ruled out for months with a suspected MCL injury, according to LeedsLive.

He was stretchered off in the 3-0 loss against Aston Villa, and Jesse Marsch confirmed that it could be a lengthy one.

However, he did not mention the duration of the injury which is now believed to be months.

The report said, “The left back was stretchered off late on against Aston Villa and whilst the club have not yet provided an update on the extent of the injury, Marsch said it ‘looked a bad one’ after the game and that it could be an MCL [medial collateral ligament] injury, which would rule Firpo out for months.”

Huge blow

Firpo is the club’s only out and out left-back.

He came in from Barcelona in the summer to replace Gjanni Alioski.

There was excitement when he arrived as many were impressed with his attacking exploits in Spain.

However, he has failed to deliver consistent performances and now, when he had his chance to prove himself under a new coach, he’s set for a spell on the sidelines.

It will be surprising if we see him back before the end of the season but as of now, that looks unlikely.

Stuart Dallas is likely to end the season at left-back and if he gets injured, Marsch may have to count on Luke Ayling to play out of position there.
