The new season is finally here and we’re at Elland Road to bring you all the updates as Leeds United get their Premier League campaign underway on home soil against Wolves.
Jesse Marsch’s side have been to Australia and back during pre-season and after their 6-2 demolition of Cagliari last weekend, it is hoped that they are ready for whatever Wolves can throw at them this afternoon.
Leeds are missing a few men today, with Liam Cooper, Luis Sinisterra, Adam Forshaw, Junior Firpo and Luke Ayling all on the comeback trail, while Stuart Dallas has been ruled out for a huge chunk of the campaign. Dan James will also miss today’s game through suspension, but he did represent the under-21s on Friday night as they saw off Derby County at Pride Park.
However, we’re set to see four debuts as Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Tyler Adams line up for their first competitive fixture in white. We’ll be reporting live from Elland Road to bring you all the build-up, team news and match updates from the first game of the season.

Leeds march into the new campaign with a 2-1 win over Wolves. Lovely stuff.

Beren Cross has that one to bring you Jesse Marsch’s thoughts after the game.
Brenden Aaronson was the star man today
His energy and work rate was superb and of course, he managed to get the decisive goal as well. Meslier was up there as one of Leeds’s best, too. Llorente and Koch did well in the middle of defence and Klich certainly made a difference when he entered the fray in the second half.

Too early to look at the table?
I don’t think so! Leeds are fifth on the opening day!
Marsch enjoyed that one
He’s been around the entire field to clap the fans.
Great character to come from behind
Leeds have had to do it the hard way today and it wasn’t always pretty, but they’ve come away with the points. This is a work in progress and the Whites are clearly making huge strides forward.
There’s the whistle!!!!
Leeds have picked up their first win of the season! They were good value for it too! They win here 2-1
But Leeds deal with it well as Wolves fire a ball into the box.
Four minutes added time
Leeds are closing in on their first win of the season.
Harrison wins a free-kick
He skips past one and gets brought down on the edge of the area. Greenwood takes it, but he can’t keep his effort down.
A Wolves sub
Hee-Chan off, Campbell on.
Changes for Leeds
Gelhardt and Summerville for Bamford and Aaronson.
That was the chance
Bamford beats the squeeze and breaks into the Wolves half unopposed. He has Klich and Aaronson with him for support and as he looks to find the former, the ball cannons off the heel of Kilman.
Sa saves Wolves!
What a chance that was! Harrison finds Bamford in the middle of the six-yard box but Sa pulls off a wonder save to deny the England international
Dendoncker has a go
It was always high and wide, though.
The Klich change has sparked Leeds into life
They’re taking hold of things again and of course, he’s just played an instrumental role in Leeds hitting the front.
Superb stuff as Leeds take the lead!
Klich slots Bamford through the line, the striker picks out Aaronson in the middle and the debutant pokes it home to give Leeds for the first time in the game.
Roca for Greenwood. The Spaniard’s influence has waned considerably in the second half and he looked to be struggling to keep up with the pace of the game.
Klich whips one across the face of goal
But there’s no one there!
What a tackle!
Kristensen gets across to tackle Ait-Nouri in the box and deny Wolves a certain goal.
Rodrigo is coming off
The goalscorer departs for Leeds. Klich comes on and he’ll hope to give Leeds more in the middle.
It looks as though Klich is coming on
It needs an injection of something at the minute, Leeds being overrun in the middle of the park.
Wolves players spending a lot of time on the ground
It’s starting to get on this crowd’s nerves now.
Llorente almost score an OG
He tries to head away a cross but it cannons off his head and almost ends up in his own. Meslier is forced to make a huge save from the resulting corner.
Rodrigo whips one in
Bamford looks for the overhead kick but ends up booting Kilman in the face.
Wolves have started quicker
They’re the team that look capable of breaking the deadlock at the minute. They’re advancing into Leeds’ half and moving the ball well.
The second half is underway
Wolves get the ball rolling once more.
