Here is the latest Leeds United transfer gossip for Thursday, June 23.
Gunners to ramp up Raphinha pressure with second bid
Arsenal will turn up the heat in their pursuit of Raphinha as they return with a second bid, according to the Evening Standard.
The Gunners tabled an opening offer on Tuesday evening but that was swatted back within 24 hours after coming nowhere near Leeds’ ?60million valuation.
Mikel Arteta is said to be ‘really keen’ on the Brazilian and will tell his sporting director – Brazilian Edu – to go again.
“That (Barcelona’s financial issue) has opened the door for Arsenal, who will hope their signing of Vieira can help them land Raphinha because the pair are with the same agency.” the report added. “Both players are represented by Gestifute, which is run by super-agent Jorge Mendes.”
Whites pushing to sign ‘unplayable’ Wolves man
Leeds are intensifying their pursuit of Wolves winger Adama Traore, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
The 26-year-old has scored 11 goals in 154 appearances for the Midlands side, and spent the second half of last season on-loan at Barcelona where he failed to score in 17 matches across all competitions.
“One of the things I have heard is that Leeds are back in for Adama Traore and they’re going to really push to see if they can get a breakthrough on this one.” Jones told GIVEMESPORT.
The winger is value around ?20million and has been on Victor Orta’s radar for some time.
Edmondson to Carlisle
Ryan Edmondson is set to sign a permanent deal with League Two side Carlisle United, according to the Athletic’s Leeds United reporter Phil Hay.
The striker arrived at Elland Road from York City in 2017 but made just two appearances across all competitions before a host of loans at Aberdeen, Northampton Town, Fleetwood Town and Port Vale.
Hay tweeted: A bit of out-going transfer news at LUFC – striker Ryan Edmondson set to join Carlisle United on a permanent deal. Knows manager Paul Simpson from the England youth set-up. #lufc”
