Wolves attacker Adama Traore is reportedly not near the top of the Leeds United transfer shortlist this summer.
According to LeedsLive reporter Beren Cross, there is a long-standing relationship between Victor Orta and the Spain international.
However, the Leeds chief is unlikely to make a move for him right now, even though things could change at a later stage in the window.
Cross wrote in his Q&A, “As it stands, Traore does not look like someone near the top of Orta’s wanted lists. Evidently, there is a long-standing connection and relationship between them, but right now he is not someone Leeds are looking to bring in.
“The window has a long way to go and we cannot predict every little twist and turn, so who knows. If other targets evade Orta you could not rule out Traore being someone he likes later in the summer, but right now he’s not understood to be one they are actively pursuing.”
Traore’s pursuit gives the same vibes of their quest to sign Dan James and it did not have a happy ending with the Welshman struggling at Elland Road.
Much like James, the Spaniard has an engine on him and the ability to turn defence into attack in the blink of an eye.
However, his lack of end product is glaring and even Barcelona were not impressed by what he did there on loan in the second half of the 2021/22 season.
Leeds need to sign someone reliable and with an end product – two things that Traore isn’t.
They’ve made a mistake with James and this will be like shooting themselves in the foot two summers in a row.
It’s good to see the club not actively pursuing his services and hopefully, they never enter the market for him.
