Sheffield United are yet to receive a bid for midfielder Sander Berge despite reported interest from Leeds United at this stage of the summer.
Leeds’ focus has been on incomings so far this summer, yet there’s the threat of a couple of departures, namely Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.
In the event of the latter moving on, it would appear that Leeds will be moving for a new signing in the engine room.
GiveMeSport have previously stated that Leeds have an interest in Berge, with the 24-year-old said to be available for ?25m.
However, Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed (via The Athletic’s Richard Sutcliffe) that Sheffield United are yet to field a bid for the Norway international.
Berge scored six goals and registered a further four assists last season for Sheffield United in the Championship, helping them to fifth. They missed out on the play-off final after defeat to Nottingham Forest over two legs.
Previously Berge made 29 appearances for Sheffield United in the Premier League.
Would Berge be a good signing?
When it comes to Leeds looking at midfielders after Marc Roca, you’ve got to think it’ll take one leaving for one to come in.
Phillips is obviously attracting plenty of interest and that’s only going to continue.
If it comes to him leaving Elland Road, Leeds will get serious on replacements.
Berge could be one of those given the reports, but as we say, it’ll likely come a lot later in the window, once Phillips’ future has been resolved.
