MOT View: Bielsa job may become major talking point at Leeds amid latest Fabrizio Romano news

Barcelona are reportedly on the hunt for a new manager and that could make for grim reading for Leeds United fans.

In September, Spanish TV station Cuatro reported on their website that Marcelo Bielsa is on Barca’s shortlist as they aim to find a replacement for manager Ronald Koeman.

Barca president Joan Laporta reportedly has a long list of names he’s considering to replace the Dutchman, including Xavi, Roberto Martinez, Thierry Henry and Antonio Conte.

Cuatro also threw in a worrying line about Bielsa, claiming that while the Argentine is content with life at Elland Road, his stance could change “if the offer is good” from Barca.

On Thursday night, Sky Sports Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano reported a worrying update on the managerial situation at the Nou Camp.

He claims that Barca are “looking for [a] new manager” and their current plan is to make a change in the Nou Camp hotseat.

While it could take “some days”, the process has started and talks are undergoing with numerous candidates to replace Koeman.

Bielsa may be happy at Elland Road. His managerial stint in charge of Leeds is the longest of his career.

He’s taken the Whites back to the Premier League, secured a top-half finish and made himself a legend at the Yorkshire club.

Everyone loves him – and he seems to love Leeds too.

But with the Whites winless in their first six Premier League games and showing signs they are not as good as they were last season – could Bielsa have a change of heart?

He’s 66-years-old and a chance to manage Barcelona – if the opportunity does arise – could be too good for the Argentine tactician to turn down.

We’re not too worried about Bielsa just yet but if more concrete speculation emerges linking him with succeeding Koeman at the Nou Camp, we may start to grow concerned.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay dubbed Bielsa a “maniac” after what he saw him doing at a game last week.
