‘Not great’ – Pundit predicts ‘Convincing’ winner & result in Leeds v Watford

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United.

Paul Robinson predicts Leeds United to grab their first Premier League win of the season when they play Watford at Elland Road on Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have endured a tough start to the campaign, failing to win any of their opening six league fixtures.

Leeds have never gone seven matches without a win at the start of the season but Robinson is backing his former club to end that run this weekend by beating Watford 2-0 in West Yorkshire.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I’m not worried about Leeds this year.

Results and their league position are not great but there are no pictures on a league table. I’ve watched them close, I saw them play against West Ham, Everton and Newcastle and I’m not worried about them.

I think they will be more than safe this year, they’ve got enough.

Watford will be a tough game but I fancy them to pick up their first win of the season.

I’ll go for a convincing 2-0 win.”

Watford have won all of the last four meetings with Leeds with the two sides last coming face to face in the FA Cup at Vicarage Road in February 2016 when the Hornets ran out 1-0 winners.

Leeds haven’t beaten Watford at Elland Road in a league game since 2006 when Robbie Blake’s second-half brace earned the Yorkshire club a 2-1 win after they went a goal behind.

Bielsa and his players will hope that they can throw the form book versus Watford out of the window on Saturday when the two teams come to blows in the Premier League.

Watford have started the season quite well and have a real danger man in Ismaila Sarr.

Leeds, though, have the in-form Raphinha available while Bielsa’s defensive options have also been boosted with the returns of Diego Llorente and Pascal Struijk.

In other Leeds United news, this player will return to the starting line-up against Watford according to a BT Sport pundit.
