Plenty of Leeds United fans have been assessing the performance of Lewis Bate in the Under 21s EFL Trophy win over Oldham on Tuesday night.
The summer signing produced a dominant performance in the centre of the pitch at Boundary Park, impressing many of the club’s fans in the process.
Having moved to Leeds from Chelsea during this summer’s transfer window, Bate arrived in Yorkshire with a considerable amount of fanfare for someone of his age.
The midfielder had however, seemingly struggled to back that up with some of his early performances for the club at youth level.
But all that changed on Tuesday, with the 18-year-old producing an outstanding all-round performance that saw him both offer a threat going forward, and provide cover defensively.
That is something that did not go unnoticed among Leeds fans as they took to Twitter to give their thoughts on the game, with many keen to praise the teenager.
Here, we take a look at what some of those supporters had to say.
This will no doubt be something of a relief from a Leeds United perspective.
Bate arrived at Leeds with a great deal of expectation, and perhaps didn’t get off to the flying start some might have expected from him.
However, it seems as though he has managed to adapt to his new surroundings fairly quickly, judging by the impression he made against Oldham on Tuesday.
The fact he is doing that against senior players at the age of 18 is exciting for Leeds, and you feel he could therefore, be one well worth keeping an eye on going forward.
