Leeds United were without Patrick Bamford for their Premier League clash against West Ham last weekend.
Marcelo Bielsa was forced to use Rodrigo as a false nine after the Englishman suffered an ankle problem against Newcastle.
With Watford coming up this weekend, it looks as though he could be missing once again at Elland Road.
Speaking on the official Leeds Podcast, Bamford shared that all of his work has been on the upper body as things stand.
“Just doing gym, little bit of boxing today,” he said.
“Bit of swimming the other day, my shoulders are hanging off – apart from that I’m all good.”
Upper body only.
It doesn’t look as though it’s positive news ahead of the Watford clash.
If Bamford was ready to return he would have been back in full training and returning to full fitness after missing a week.
Rodrigo performed well against West Ham at Elland Road, but he did tire as the game went on and having Bamford available would have been perfect.
The medical team look to be keeping his strength up at Thorp Arch, and after the international break looks to be a realistic timeframe to aim for.
Bielsa looks destined to start the same team in an attacking sense again, with the only likely change now being Jack Harrison in for Dan James.
It looks as though it will be another week in the stands for Bamford rather than being out on the field with his teammates, and the best we could hope for is potentially a place on the bench.
Given the international break is next week, resting the striker for one more week will hopefully give him that chance to return against Southampton next month.
