Phil Hay sends Twitter message as Leeds ‘incompetency’ claim shared amid major trouble

  • by

Leeds United are yet again in major trouble with injuries within their squad ahead of the trip to West Ham on Sunday.

The Whites currently have no senior striker available with doubts around Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo, Tyler Roberts, Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood.

Phil Hay addressed those issues in his latest piece for The Athletic, with fans flooding to the responses on social media.

Nathan Skidmore was one of those, and he commented on the Whites’ medical team – where he has worked in the past.

“Had the pleasure of working within the medical department at Leeds, they are an unbelievably dedicated, knowledgeable and innovative bunch,” he wrote.

“I have complete faith in what they do, these are tough times mostly not due to perceived ‘incompetencies’.”

Hay responded to that message on his personal Twitter account, taking his hat off to the work that Rob Price and his team do.

“It is an excellent medical department, for sure.”

Incompetence?

Price and his team are simply overwhelmed with injuries yet again and have likely seen nothing like this during their time in football.

How can a medical team be incompetent? We’re not sure where those claims came from, especially given that no player returns until they are 110% ready.

Bamford injuring his hamstring in his return against Brentford back in December was simply just unlucky, and that is how the ball is rolling for Leeds at this moment.

Marcelo Bielsa’s methods would need to be questioned in training before any fingers are pointed at the medical team, and we don’t see either of those things happening.

You have to play with the cards you have been dealt at times, and let’s hope for some more magic from our medical team this week.
