Significant claim made on Leeds United’s stance over Elland Road return for individual

It seems Leeds United could be open to bring Ronaldo Vieira back to the club this month.

That’s after a report from ClubDoria claimed that the Elland Road side are ready to make a move to re-sign the midfielder from Sampdoria this month.

Having made 71 appearances in all competitions for Leeds between 2016 and 2018, Vieira then left the club to join Sampdoria in the summer of 2018.

The midfielder has since spent the last three-and-a-half year in Italy, although he came close to a return to England last summer, only for a move to Sheffield United to fall through.

Since the collapse of that deal that would have taken him to Bramall Lane, Vieira has yet to make another appearance for Sampdoria, although it seems that is not putting Leeds off a reunion.

According to this latest update, the Whites are now ready to make their move to re-sign Vieira, as they look to boost their squad this month.

For his part, Vieira – who has 18 months remaining on his Sampdoria contract – is reportedly keen to make a move to the Premier League.

This is an interesting one to consider from a Leeds United perspective.

Admittedly, Vieira did impress during his first spell at Elland Road, where he certainly showed plenty of promise that could make a reunion appealing.

There is also the fact that Leeds clearly need some midfielder reinforcements this summer, that could make this an important deal for the Whites to get done.

However, Vieira’s lack of game time this season, and the fact that a move to a Championship side fell through in the summer, does make you wonder slightly, about whether he is ready for a top-flight role this month.
