Watford injury news as blow and double boost confirmed for Leeds United clash

  • by

Watford have been dealt a blow ahead of their trip to Elland Road to face Leeds United this Saturday.

The Hornets are facing a Leeds side without a win in their opening six Premier League games but Xisco Munoz has learned that he will be unable to call on the services of midfielder Peter Etebo as he pits his wits against Marcelo Bielsa.

In fact, he will lose the player for four to five months as he tore a quad muscle in their recent draw against Newcastle United. Etebo had started all but one of Watford’s games in the Premier League up until sustaining his injury.

Former Manchester United and Everton midfielder Tom Cleverley has been passed fit to play after he was removed in the same game following a blow to the head. Concussion protocol has been observed and he will be available to play at Elland Road this weekend, as will goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann.

The Austrian shot-stopper was dropped recently as Watford went on a run of losses. Ben Foster returned in goal as Watford defeated Norwich City. Bachmann subsequently didn’t make the squad for the most recent fixtures due to a knee injury which he has now recovered from.

Although Leeds have yet to win a game this season, Watford have won twice. They beat Aston Villa in the opening game of the season, then broke a streak of three straight losses to beat Norwich at Carrow Road, before picking up a point in a thrilling game against Newcastle last weekend.
