How Gjanni Alioski has shone for both club and country since his summer exit from Leeds United

Ezgjan Alioski called time on his four-year stay with Leeds United in the summer.

The North Macedonia international opted against signing a new deal with the Whites and instead made the move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli.

During his time at the club, Alioski established himself as somewhat of a cult hero with the Leeds fanbase thanks to his energetic performances and infectious personality.

He made 171 appearances in West Yorkshire, scoring 22 goals and providing 19 assists. He played an important role in both the club’s promotion campaign and last season’s ninth-placed finish in the Premier League.

And since his departure, Alioksi has picked up where he left off from the end of last season, making a good start to life at his new club.

He already appears to have won the Al-Ahli fanbase over, as his social media pages are often filled with supporters showing their gratitude for him.

Alioski has already registered five goal contributions in just ten matches so far this season, finding the back of the net twice and providing three assists.

As a team, though, it was a slow start to the season for Al-Ahli as they drew all of their first five league matches, before then going onto lose their next two.

But in recent weeks, they have started to find some momentum, winning three of their last four matches, which has propelled them up into seventh place in the table.

Alioski has also continued to shine on the international stage for North Macedonia too. In the seven matches he has played for his country since leaving Leeds, they have lost just once.

In that timeframe, the 29-year-old has scored three goals, helping them secure a play-off spot for next year’s World Cup in Qatar next year.
