Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville nets early goal during Netherlands U21s debut

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville has made a goalscoring start to his Netherlands’ Under-21s career this afternoon.

The young Dutch side are facinge Gibraltar in their latest Under-21 European Championship qualifying match, knowing that they can move level on points with Switzerland, who currently occupy first place in Group E.

Summerville was been handed the number seven shirt ahead of his full international U21s debut and is playing alongside the likes of Ki-Jana Hoever and Joshua Zirkzee.

The Leeds prospect took just 16 minutes to open his account, when he netted the opening goal.

His first U21s start marks a whirlwind couple of months for the Leeds man, who has made his breakthrough into the first-team fold at Elland Road in recent weeks.

Summerville was handed his senior debut during the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United in September and has made a number of cameo appearances in the league since then against West Ham United, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 20-year-old was also given his first Leeds start earlier this season in the Carabao Cup penalty shootout victory over Fulham.

Since his move from Feyenoord last summer, Summerville has been of the stars of the Whites’ Under-23s side, helping them earn promotion to the Premier League Two Division One during his first season at the club.

He netted six goals and provided seven assists across 14 appearances for Mark Jackson’s side last season and has continued his fine form into the new campaign.

His first international U21s side is a recognition for his fine form since moving to England and he will be hoping it is the first of many in the orange of the Dutch.
