Liverpool issue Harvey Elliott update as he steps up recovery following injury at Leeds United

Liverpool have posted an update on the condition of midfielder Harvey Elliott has he continues his recovery from injury.

Elliott suffered a fracture and dislocation of his left ankle and damaged ligaments in the clash with Leeds United at Elland Road on September 12.

The 18-year-old picked up the injury in a challenge involving Leeds centre-back Pascal Struijk, who while winning the ball in the tackle, saw a tangle of legs that caused the serious damage.

Elliott subsequently underwent successful surgery in the days after the game in West Yorkshire and is now well on the road to getting back to full fitness.

The former Fulham man has been pictured out on the grass running for the first time since picking up the injury, while also taking part in some ball work inside, highlighting the quick progress he is making.

After a successful loan spell at Blackburn Rovers last season, where he scored seven goals and provided 11 assists, Elliott had begun to start establishing himself as a regular in Liverpool’s first team at the beginning of the campaign.

He was enjoying a run of three consecutive Premier League starts for Jurgen Klopp’s side until he suffered the injury, including their crucial clash with fellow title hopefuls Chelsea at Anfield.

Although it still remains unclear when Elliott will return to match action, Liverpool have already stressed their confidence that he will play again at some point this season.

And given the latest update that has been provided on his condition, it appears as though he is well on his way.
